The future of health care
I think we are in the era of technology transition. After recession, both the government as well as the private organization are counting on the technology to improve their day to day operations. It is the technology that can help them to save costs by providing efficiency. The vision of e-health from Microsoft clearly tell us how efficient the technology can be in the organization. Connecting virtually everyone at anytime. The only question that arise is "Are the common people capable of using hi-tech device?".

Portable TV
As we all know that the days are numbered for the traditional television, it's time for the television-making company to start looking for the alternative source for the market. PortableTV would be a best solution for the future market. As people become more mobile, they will start looking for anything that happen in real time and is convenient.
Companies making the portable TV should target the Net generation because this is the generation that will rule the market in the future. Net generation is commonly referred to as Generation X who is born between 1979 to 1993. With the help of YouTube and other video embedded website, they can virtually view anything they want in real time. Now that the 'LIVE' video streaming is getting popular, the chance of Portable television's success is getting brighter each day.
This technology can help the generation to tune up to their favorite shows at any given place especially when they travel. Missing their favorite shows is the nightmare for most teens. The companies who are making the Portable TV can use 'touch-screen' technology and input blue ray disc players as well as hard disks to store downloaded movies and mp3. Adding a Web browsing function would help the company to keep its technology up-to-date.
I think the only question that will arise in the market is the price. Over pricing the product will harm the Portable TV market’s future.

Search Engine Strategies (SES) conference
On June 8th and 9th, as a part of York university's volunteer group, I attended the SES conference which was held at the Sheraton Centre in Downtown, Toronto.
The conference provided the marketer a guideline to the search engine era. It's the beginning of new era of search marketing. Search engine is changing the way the marketer track their consumers. With the help of social media, marketers can easily access to their target market. As the Marketing director of Yahoo!, Nick Papsiopolis stated in the conference, " Search application will be going everywhere. Everything will be about the search engine".
Some of the conference highlights are the presentation from the author of the Anatomy of Buzz revisited, Emanuel Rosen who mention about the similarity between the word of mouth marketing and the Buzz marketing. Then we have Mark Evans, the Principal of ME consulting and Krista Neher, the CEO of Marketess.com who shared their views about the common mistake the big companies make with the social media. The truth is that it is not easy to create and maintain the social media website, it need lots of work and time. Finally on the growing mobile market, the views were shared by Cindy Krum, the CEO of Rank Mobile, Nick Papsiopolis, MD of Yahoo! Canada and Miriam Warren, the Marketing director, Yelp.com. They all agreed on the bright future of the mobile market. It's the era of Smart phone.
The conference ended on the high note with various training workshops provided to the marketers on the next day. During this rough economy time, it is vital for the companies to carefully plan their strategies to target the right market and improve their ROI(Return of Investment) with their market campaign.

Tween's generation
I believe that the future market lies in today’s Tween generation who are between 9 to 14 years old. This is a generation of attitude and knowledge. Soon they will be living in the world where everything is connected through the online interface. As Martin Lindstrom wrote, this is 'the first generation born with a mouse in their hands, and a computer screen as their window on the world'.
The boom of social networking website like Facebook, MySpace and Youtube has helped the kids to connect to the world like never before. They have benefited from the abundance of free information easily accessible online. The addictions seemed to be growing day by day and soon the social networking website will be the main tool for the company to track the Tween market. It help the company to communicate with them and satisfy their needs.
Kids today are becoming more affluent than the previous generations, and have an influential nature. Kids have a great influence in the brands they buy for themselves and the ones that are bought for them like breakfast cereals or soft drinks. They even influence many expensive purchases of their home. The demand of these kids is high today. The chance of building bond between them and the company is lower than 50% because these kids are less loyal to their brands. But those with loyal attitude tend to have a strong bond with the company which last for a very long period.
I think company is beginning to get a glimpse of the potential value of tomorrow's consumer. The faster the companies adapt to the changing market, the better will be the positioning.

The future of Facebook
After reading from what Chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg said about the Facebook future( source: businessweeek.com), it look like the future of Facebook is really bright. I was amazed by how their business strategy of advertising work so simple and yet so effective. Imagine their revenue is expecting to grow at 70% this year where it is consider as one of the toughest economic year where most economy is expecting to slide.
Facebook have done a remarkable job by differentiating their Advertising approach from their competitors like Google, Yahoo. Their Advertising have integrated so well into the user’s experience in the facebook. This have help the advertiser to built a directly relationship with the user.
Their company mission is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and transparent and connected. I think she is right about the world moving into connectivity, sharing and openness because in today’s world, Globalization have played a vital role. Facebook have help to connect friends and family that were lost in migration.
I think the future of facebook will involve people day to day activities like time management, transaction, shopping, their spouse or children activities. There is a high expectation on Facebook but I think their vision is right on track with the changing market. It's just the begining for Facebook.

eMetrics Marketing Optimization summit
It was on the 1st of April 2009 that I attended the E-metric summit held at the Toronto Marriott Eaton Centre Hotel. Top marketers from across the country attended this summit. As a member of student volunteer group, I got an opportunity to participate in some of the very interesting discussions from the marketers of Aeroplan, Sears, ebay and travelocity.
Most of the marketers were talking about the change in media market. It is interesting to know that the new form of media like Mobile, Social website, web application and video, are part of the evolution of the marketing trends. Companies are beginning to understand the importance of e-marketing strategy in order to keep up with the ever-changing market environment. There is a huge tilt in the marketing world from traditional to digital. Sooner or later, digital form of marketing will be taking over the traditional form of marketing like newspaper, radio, TV and others.

Topics on marketing metrics was even shared. It is through these marketing metrics that help the company to evaluate their success and their domination of market share.
